What expedited freight means
Expedited freight is time-critical shipping that takes priority over standard service. The load moves on the most direct route, often with a dedicated vehicle and sometimes with a team of two drivers so the truck can keep moving.
When it is worth the cost
Expedited is usually the right call when a late delivery costs more than the premium for speed, for example:
- A production line is waiting on parts
- A shipment was missed or delayed and a customer deadline is fixed
- Retail or event freight has a hard delivery window
- Perishable or high-value goods should spend as little time in transit as possible
Choosing the right vehicle
Not every urgent shipment needs a full tractor-trailer. Small loads can move in a cargo van or sprinter van, mid-size loads in a straight truck, and larger loads in a dedicated full truckload with solo or team drivers. Matching the vehicle to the load keeps the cost reasonable without slowing it down.
How to move an urgent load fast
Call instead of emailing when time is short, and have the pickup address, delivery address, weight, dimensions and the time the freight is ready. The sooner your agent has complete details, the sooner a truck can be confirmed.
